Plastic eye surgery: types of operations, prices, contraindications, restoration

Blepharoplasty, also known as plastic eye surgery, is one of the cheapest and easiest operations in aesthetic surgery. At the same time, this procedure can smooth out the most expressive signs of aging - overhanging and swelling in the eyelid area. During the operation, which also lasts no more than an hour and a half, fatty hernias are carefully removed, we usually call them "bags" under the eyes, excess skin is removed and the problem of bruising under the eyes is eliminated. And if the patient was gazing at the world "under the brow" under the weight of the swelling of the upper and lower eyelids before the operation, his gaze at the exit becomes open, youthful, "cranked" and fresh.

Limited eye plastic surgery

And contrary to popular skepticism, the natural shape of the eyes does not change after blepharoplasty, they are not artificially stretched, as is the case with Jocelyn Wildenstein, for example. To get such a result, you must at least exceed the "limit" of plastic surgery for one person, and it should not be more than four of them. How many of these Jocelyn had is unknown, but it clearly went well beyond what was permitted.

In general, plastic surgeons say that the eyes are literally lengthened by 1-2 mm during the operation - these changes are usually not even noticed by the patients themselves. But if they are constantly pulled and increased by 1 cm, then inevitably they will reveal all the secrets so diligently hidden.

But at the same time, experts immediately emphasize that the effects of plastic eye surgery last only 5-7 years. Therefore, most of the patients here are people over 35 years of age with visible age-related malformations that cause a person significant discomfort.

Another important point: Blepharoplasty does not smooth wrinkles in the corners of the eyes, also known as "crow's feet". Various injections are now available for these purposes - from botulinum toxin to more natural vitamin cocktails based on hyaluronic acid. Today it is the easiest, fastest and most painlessWay to get rid of fine lines not only around the eyes, but also on the forehead, in the area of the nasolabial fold, between the eyebrows.

Age-related changes are not the only indication for plastic eye surgery

before and after eye surgery

However, age is a rather relative criterion as an indication for blepharoplasty, as young people often turn to plastic surgeons who need plastic eye surgery in this area against the background of premature aging. Early aging of this zone in them can be due to the following reasons:

  • genetic predisposition for rapid aging or the formation of "pockets" under the eyes;
  • Liver and kidney diseases;
  • "Unhealthy" way of life: too salty food, alcohol, smoking;
  • harmful cosmetic habits, such as stretching the skin when applying creams, the habit of not washing off makeup, lack of cosmetic care.

If the young patient does not need to remove excess skin, the surgeon will prefer modern eye plastic surgery techniques - transconjunctival blepharoplasty. This technique is the least traumatic and doesn't even require stitches. The only thing in this way you can only remove fat deposits (bags under the eyes) in the upper and lower eyelids without removing other tissues.

To perform the manipulations, the plastic surgeon twists the eyelid, makes a millimeter puncture on its inside, called the conjunctiva, thereby removing fatty hernias, which are the cause of bags under the eyes. The puncture located on the mucous membrane is tightened shortly after the operation without additional interventions, as the tissue regenerates particularly quickly here. Usually after such an operation, the patient is sent for discharge 1-1, 5 hours after the procedure.

Indications for plastic surgery of the eyes

  • Fatty hernias in the upper and / or lower eyelid area;
  • "Bruises" under the eyes;
  • Swelling in the periorbital area;
  • Ptosis of the upper eyelid;
  • wrinkles and excess skin around the eyes;
  • Asymmetry of the eyes (shape and cut);
  • a single wrinkle in the upper eyelid area (typical of people with an Asian appearance)

Methods of plastic eye surgery

In modern plastic surgery, there are two main methods of performing blepharoplasty:

  • laser- cuts are made with a laser beam;
  • Surgical- "Access" is opened with a scalpel.

Types of plastic surgery operations for eye correction

All operations in plastic surgery on the eyes last no more than an hour and a half. They are performed either under general anesthesia (desirable for circular blepharoplasty) or under local anesthesia based on adrenaline and 1-2 lidocaine solutions. The patient must be in the clinic within two hours of the operation to rule out complications.

Sutures after plastic eye operations are removed within 3-4 days - with classic blepharoplasty, if the operation was performed transconjunctivally, these are not superimposed at all.

After blepharoplasty, bruising and swelling around the eyes may persist for 1 to 2 weeks. In general, this is a normal phenomenon - you just have to wait and see.

Plastic surgery of the upper eyelid

Performs an eye correction in the upper eyelid area. This removes a "heavy" overhang, excess skin is removed. For manipulations, the plastic surgeon makes an incision in the area of the natural fold in the upper eyelid zone, after which he removes the excess skin flap and, after opening the access to the fatty tissue, removes this too. Here the incision is sewn with an inner seam and special thinnest threads, making the scar completely invisible to the patient within 1-2 months.

Plastic surgery of the lower eyelid and removal of bruises and bags under the eyes

In blepharoplasty on the lower eyelid, an incision is made 1-2 millimeters below the lash line. During the operation, the surgeon first cuts off part of the excess skin, then opens and removes tissue from the fatty sacs, the fatty hernias. Sometimes the lower blepharoplasty does not remove fat deposits either, but rather slightly supplements them and distributes them evenly over the "lower" zone.

Then inner seams are attached, which, as in the first case, completely fade and become completely invisible after about 1-2 months.

Circular blepharoplasty

This is a simultaneous correction of the lower and upper eyelids.

Plastic surgery of the eye incision

before and after eye surgery

This eye plastic surgery technique is most in demand among people of Asian appearance. The procedure, also known as cantoplasty, allows you to transform a single fold of the upper eyelid, characteristic of the Asian population, into a double fold, similar to the one we have.

During the operation of plastic surgery of the eye incision, the epicanthus (the characteristic overhang of the skin fold in the inner corner of the eye) is removed with the simultaneous formation of a double fold in the shape of a crescent. Excess fat deposits around the eyes are also removed.

But Asian appearance is not the only indication for plastic eye surgery, in addition to correcting the upper eyelid fold. Such an intervention allows you to correct the shape of the eyes, their cut, and tighten their sunken outer corners. Cantoplasty is no more traumatic than other types of blepharoplasty.

Recovery period after plastic eye surgery

On average, the recovery phase lasts 2 to 6 weeks. People who are non-smokers and who strictly follow all postoperative recommendations of the surgeon can expect the minimum time:

  1. for 7-10 days the patient must wear tinted glasses;
  2. for about 10-14 days you have to give up wearing contact lenses in favor of glasses.
  3. avoid physical exertion, sudden movements, stooping, this can lead to breakage of the seams;
  4. you need to give up cosmetic procedures for at least a month;
  5. Make-up is only allowed 10 days after the operation.

Contraindications to plastic eye surgery

  • Cardiovascular diseases;
  • Colds and infectious diseases;
  • Oncology;
  • Diabetes mellitus;
  • Apnea;
  • Liver and kidney diseases;
  • chronic diseases in the acute stage;
  • Thyroid disease;
  • mental disorders;
  • violation of blood clotting;
  • pregnancy and breast feeding period

To identify the factors hindering plastic surgery on the eyes, the following tests are done:

  • general blood analysis;
  • Blood for coagulogram;
  • Blood chemistry;
  • the conclusion of the cardiologist based on the ECG;
  • Conclusion of the endocrinologist;
  • Ultrasound of the abdominal organs;
  • Blood test for HIV;
  • visit a psychologist.

Price for plastic eye surgery

In recent years, plastic surgery prices have dropped significantly. This is mainly due to the technologicalization of this area, but by no means to a decrease in the quality of the services provided. In the past, plastic surgeons operated mainly with only one scalpel and using outdated techniques, making large and deep cuts that left clear scars. Instead of these techniques, there are now more cost-effective, high-tech techniques with which you can perform any surgical procedure quickly and in a minimally invasive manner. Because of this, the price of plastic surgery has become more affordable for ordinary people.
